Welcome to all who made the jump to the new blog! I hope I retain all 3 of my followers in this momentous move. The three of you know that last week I bid farewell to
The Dead Dog Blog in order to re-invent, re-create, and re-energize my blogging juices.
At least two-thirds of you are wondering where I came up with the new name. In fact, you may even be wondering what it means.
Here's the back story ... an old friend from high school (wait ... I don't mean you are old, Liz. I just mean we go way back) had commented on Facebook about my reentry to blogging after a year hiatus. Somehow I threw out the word sagacity in my response. A full one-third of you, my followers, responded with how impressed you were with my copious vocabulary. So it stuck with me. I like the sound of the word ...
sagacity. Say it out loud ... sagacity. It's fun isn't it?
Yet, I realize that not all of my blog posts are sagacious (see how I use the word in different forms, kids?), so I needed something to go along with it. I'm told that my posts often contain wit and humor and have even caused a few to
LOL (yes, believe it or not, LOL is now a dictionary entry), so I needed to word that carried a certain erudite whimsy. Enter
jocularity.
I first heard the word on M*A*S*H a number of years ago when Col. Potter used it in the Father Mulcahy Sound-Alike Contest (
"Jocularity! Jocularity!") and it, too, has stuck with me ever since. I can't help but be jocular ... I've found that life is so much better with it than without it. (Look kids, there's some sagacity for you.)
So there you have it ... sagacity and jocularity. A new blog for all three of my followers ... may you receive hours and hours of wit and wisdom (hey, I could've used that!).
